With the merger of Alltel and Verizon, some have asked about the
continuation of NASCOE discounts for Alltel customers. Jennifer
Blandford, National Benefits Chair, talked with a Verizon rep last week.
Discounts should automatically transfer when the merger is complete.
I would suggest that when you get your new Verizon bill this month, you
should verify that your discount was applied.
Also, it has come to my attention that some of the monthly discounts we
receive were entered into ALLTEL's system with an expiration date. If
your discount was entered with an expiration date then once this date is
reached your discount will be removed. We are not sure how many
accounts have expiration dates but believe it is very few. To avoid any
surprises you might want to check with Verizon. We hope to have a new
Verizon Representative assigned soon so that we will have a contact
person to assist us with problems.
