"Bright & Beautiful * NC in 2012"
Good afternoon everyone!
We had a fantastic convention in Clemmons last week! Aaron Martin, SED, and our new STC attended and offered comments that were upbeat and positive. They commended
us for the important and good work we turn out daily in North Carolina and reminded us that they are on our side and are accessible to every employee. All emphasized that
FSA is a "service" agency which provides vital support to local communities and reminded us that the farmer must continue to come first. The SED and the STC Chairman,
Pender Sharp, specifically emphasized the significant role Program Technicians play in program delivery and how that role is central to the success of our agency and our
farmers. As one of them remarked: "When the PT is at the counter, that's where the rubber meets the road." Both of them generously thanked the PTs for a job well done.
The state convention always provides opportunity to make new friends as well as a chance for old friends to reunite. This year was no exception as we had several first-time
attendees join in the fun. Jamie Lambeth, GIS Coordinator, will receive a NoCASCOE t-shirt as he was the winner of the 2010 first-timer's award. On the flip side, we were
delighted by the presence of several retirees: Bonnie Potts, Bonnie O'Neal, Sylvia Brooks, June Chilton, Shelba Witherington, Joann Crawley, and Lorene Coates.
Our Vice-President, Lorraine Dillard, led the charge in hosting this successful event! And of course, our ever-faithful Secretary-Treasurer, Martha Mills, turned in another stellar
performance! No big project like a state convention could occur without teamwork and the following deserve a huge "thank-you":
Registration: Kay Yates, Verne Burnette, Anne Strickland, Diane Roper, Dianne Davis, Erin Massie,
Lesa Rawls, Diane Thomas, Sharon Scott
Nametags & Icebreaker Game: Gail White
Hospitality: Martha Mills, Russell Morgan, Cliff Moore, Pam Pollard, Sharon Scott,
Denise Gregory, Virginia Bradshaw
Door Prizes: Jennifer Gilbert, Robin Hudson
Goodie Bags: Denise Gregory, Maria Tirado, Rosie Hale, Vanessa Moore
Auction: Claudia Austin, Robin Hudson, Martha Mills
Bid Paddles for Auction: Amy Lowe, Christine Farrington
Emblems Table: Becky Fortner, Kim Rumfelt, Anne Strickland
Unfortunately, my list is not all-inclusive; these are just the highlights - there are many others who worked diligently behind the scenes to ensure an enjoyable experience for all
convention-goers.
To those who attended and participated, we thank you and hope you will return! To those behind the scenes as well as those listed above, I sincerely appreciate your help and
your dedication to NoCASCOE! To the SED, STC, STO Staff, and DDs, we are grateful for your cooperation and support! Thanks to all for a job well done!!
More details about convention business and events will follow. Have a nice weekend!
